Using your insurance
Nutrition care that’s often covered - without the hassle
Many clients are surprised to learn that nutrition counseling is covered by insurance. My goal is to make the process as simple and transparent as possible, so you can focus on getting support, not figuring out your benefits.
Is nutrition counseling covered?
In many cases, yes.
Most major insurance plans cover nutrition counseling, especially during pregnancy or for specific medical conditions like gestational diabetes.
Many of my clients pay $0 out of pocket.
Coverage can vary depending on your plan, but I’ll help you understand exactly what to expect before we meet.
For some plans (including Highmark and United Healthcare), documentation of a nutrition-related diagnosis may be required. This can be as simple as a visit summary, referral, or discharge paperwork. I’ll help make sure you have all the documentation we’ll need.
How it works
Getting started is simple:
1. Schedule your appointment
Choose a time that works for you (virtual or in-person)
2. I verify your benefits
I’ll check your insurance coverage and let you know what’s included
3. We meet 1:1
You’ll receive personalized, evidence-based support tailored to you
4. Ongoing support (if needed)
We can continue sessions based on your goals and coverage
Using out-of-network benefits
If I’m out-of-network with your insurance plan, you may still be able to receive reimbursement.
I can provide a superbill (a detailed receipt) for you to submit to your insurance company. Many clients are able to get partial reimbursement, depending on their plan.
